Dragonfly Film & Television, The BAFTA award winning production company behind pioneering primetime documentary series 'One Born Every Minute' and 'The Family' for Channel 4, are currently working on an observational documentary series called 'The Hotel' which will be the next landmark project for the company in this genre of television.

This will be a major series for Channel 4 – heartwarming and humorous, focussing on one remarkable hotel, its staff and its guests for 8 hours of primetime television - and will be a chance for any hotel to show what they are about and what they have to offer!

I live in Harlow, Essex, but perform all over the UK both as a soloist and with my band.

How long have you been singing / entertaining?

I have been performing professionally for 12 years. My career started in musicals and I have since appeared in many theatre shows as well as on TV and in films. I have been gigging on my own and with my band for the past 4 years at weddings, restaurants and functions.

Whats your favorite type of music and why?

My favourite type of music is musical theatre because I love the dramatic nature of this genre. I just think you can't beat the thrill of live theatre performances! It is also very varied when you compare say the songs of We Will Rock You with the songs of The Phantom of the Opera.

That is a tricky one because I have so many but if I had to be pinned down I would say Bring Him Home from the musical Les Miserables because it is so beautiful and tender.

I don't often blog about anything other than Wedding's however I had to share the most amazing restaurant with you.

On Saturday evening I was invited for a meal for my mother in laws birthday celebrations. We had booked a table for 10 of us at Smith's Brasserie in Ongar Essex. It is well known for it's A listed celebrity and famous sport star customers but what I wanted to know was the food as good as the reviews had said.

As we arrived, our coats were promptly taken and we were shown to the new Lounge bar above the restaurant. We immediately felt relaxed and was very happy to be given a glass of one of my favorite champagnes!

During dinner we were treated like royalty, the staff were amazingly efficient and courteous at all times. Even though Smiths is known for being 'famous for fish' and as my partner is not a lover of fish there was plenty of other choice. We had an amazing night and I will defiantly be visiting Smiths again!

Where are you based?
La Crèmerie is a small family business owned by Emma Dandy, based in the hamlet of Nettleden, just north of the beautiful market town of Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire.

How long have you worked with Cheese?

I have been passionate about cheese since my Mother first let me try some of the Stilton she was having for lunch when I was about five years old. I can still remember the taste - creamy and buttery but with salty and spicy notes too. Delicious! I have since developed a sound knowledge of cheese by constantly trying new and unusual cheeses - helped by frequent travel around the British Isles, France and other European countries. I decided to turn my passion into a business following a career break to raise my family. La Crèmerie opened for business in May 2010 and is a member of The Guild Of Fine Food, a group dedicated to sourcing the best artisan produce for consumers.

How long does it take you to create a Cheese Wedding Cake?

La Crèmerie offers a bespoke Cheese Wedding Cake service with cakes designed to meet the client's requirements, so it is difficult to say exactly how long the cakes take to create. I like to meet each client personally, if possible, to discuss how many tiers of cheese are required along with how much cheese per guest is needed. Each cake offers a balance of styles and flavours - for example a hard cheese, a blue cheese and a soft white cheese - with all the cheeses used coming from small artisan producers, many of whom have won awards for the quality of their produce.

Do you have a favorite Cheese?

My favourite cheese changes so often - there are just too many fantastic cheeses in the world to be able to choose one! I particularly like a good traditional farmhouse cheddar such as Keen's and think Colston Bassett Stilton is hard to beat. There are also some really exciting new cheeses being made now in the British Isles such as Wigmore - a delicious ewe's milk cheese from Berkshire - and Coolea, a wonderful Irish creation.

Which month is your busiest month?

For the retail side of La Crèmerie, the weeks leading up to Christmas are pretty manic! For Cheese Wedding Cakes - most months are fairly busy with couples tying the knot, but I still find the traditionally popular summer months the busiest.

Let's face it ladies: the trashy hen night of bar crawls, fancy dress and strippers is now an exhausted cliché and we don’t want repeat it over and over. Hen parties don’t have to be this way. If something a little more refined seems appealing, you might want to consider some of the following options.

Spa weekends are becoming increasingly popular. Hen party guests can still enjoy a drink, but in a classy manner, with champagne cocktails and strawberries being the order of the day. Instead of nursing a hangover, you and the girls can enjoy luxurious beauty treatments and body massages, followed by a session in the sauna or Jacuzzi, or a relaxing float about the pool.

A more indulgent experience is a luxury motorboat weekend, where you can bask in the sun while an on-board team caters to your every need. The interiors of these magnificent boats are often like holiday homes, making them essentially high-class hotels on water. For those girls who don’t like to have everything taken out of their hands, a similar but not identical option is a luxury yacht weekend in which you get to have a go at sailing.

For those parties that do plan to get a little merry, a cocktail making master class could be a perfect compromise between the conventional hen night and something more elegant. Drinking will proceed at a more leisurely pace, and an appreciation for the various ingredients that go into your favourite concoctions might incline you to sip rather than to slosh.

If you had your heart set on some form of fancy dress, there’s no reason to rule it out completely. Real Weddings: Adam & Claire

It was an absolute honor to be involved with Adam & Claire's Wedding. The ceremony was held at All Saints Church, Great Horkesley on the 12th June 2010. Followed by a fabulous reception at Smeetham Hall Barn near Sudbury. The day was glorious and the Bride and Groom looked fabulous in their attire. Smeetham was decorated with lovely fairy lights and the table centre pieces of floating deep red gerberas flower heads finished the place off perfectly. Every so often I get sent press releases, here is one I really enjoyed. I love this new website and it's full of interesting information. Also it has a great search engine that allows you to find the perfect honey moon by the type things you enjoy!

Newlyweds ditch traditional honeymoons, says Jane Anderson, editor of new website, 101honeymoons.co.uk

The traditional honeymoon of two weeks on a foreign beach is on the decline, according to the editor of a new travel website dedicated to the subject. Many British couples getting married this year will instead join one of a growing list of new trends - staying in chic UK beach hotels, stylish all-inclusives or upmarket tented camps.

Jane Anderson, editor of 101honeymoons.co.uk, says the honeymoon market is as buoyant as ever, and a number of factors - including social trends and tightened budgets due to the recession - have dramatically increased the options.

101honeymoons aims to become the first stop on the web for honeymoon ideas. The site features 101 suggestions personally selected by Jane - everything from renting a VW camper van in the UK to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the Caribbean. It uses a unique form of visual search, allowing users to ‘hover’ over a grid of images. They can filter their options by price, destination or specific requirements such as a private pool, beachfront location or buzzing nightlife.

Couples can also search the site by personality type. If they describe themselves as ‘fashionistas’ they will be shown destinations such as Santorini or St Barths. If they admit to being ‘bone idle’ they will be pointed towards the Maldives or Cook Islands.

Jane, who was travel editor of You & Your Wedding magazine for 10 years, identifies a number of new honeymoon trends:

New honeymoon trends include:

· The rise of the ‘minimoon’ for cash-rich, time poor couples, including a private jet to France or a stay at the Ice Hotel in Sweden to view the Northern Lights.

· The emergence of a new generation of chic British seaside hotels and cottages, encouraging many honeymooners to stay in the UK. Options include Devon, Cornwall and Northumberland.

· Stylish hotels now offering an all-inclusive option, allowing couples to keep tabs on costs. Examples include Meeru Island in the Maldives, Les Pavillons in Mauritius and Young Island in the Grenadines.

· Increasing numbers of couples rejecting traditional hotels in favour of sleeping under canvas in the Omani desert or luxury tented camps in India.

· The emergence of hip new hotels in traditional destinations, such as the Atlantis Hotel in Barbados and Mount Hartman Bay Estate in Grenada.

· Luxury adventure trips including a safari in Tanzania, a stay at a Japanese hot spring and a journey on the Maharajas’ Express train in Rajasthan.

· A rise in ‘maximoons’ where couples take a month or more out to travel on a round-the-world ticket.

The new site features an interactive quiz where couples can answer multiple choice questions to find their ideal honeymoon, plus detailed advice written by Jane, including how to plan a honeymoon and getting married abroad.

“Today’s couples are bombarded with such an array of honeymoon options, it’s hard for them to make the right choices, especially with the stress of planning a wedding to consider. Until now there hasn’t been a website where they can find inspiration from a trusted source and have all their questions answered.”

101honeymoons.co.uk is aimed at both brides and grooms. “Booking the honeymoon is no longer just down to the groom,” says Jane. “It’s a joint decision, with the bride often having the final say.”

Wherever couples choose to go, they can be sure of a warm welcome this year,” says Jane: “Honeymooners are highly valued customers to hotels and tour operators, especially in these hard times. They’ll get amazing service and extras such as romantic dinners, room upgrades and even free weddings. Hotels are pulling out all the stops so that couples will return for anniversaries.

“Gone are the days when couples would simply jet off for a fortnight of sun on a beach. Today’s newlyweds are increasingly travel savvy and want an added wow factor, whether it’s a private pool, a top spa or a celebrity-endorsed restaurant,” says Jane.

“There are also more considerations these days, such as time restrictions, budget, green issues, past travel experiences and a desire to please both with a multi-centre itinerary. Some want to give something back by incorporating volunteer work into their honeymoon.”

Venue Focus - Blake Hall

Recently I visited Blake Hall for a wedding show. I was very impressed with how clean and immaculate the site was. Blake Hall Estate is run by Capel Cure family, which has belonged to the family for over 220. You enter the Estate by a long drive way, surrounded by fabulous gardens and picturesque wildlife. This then leads you to the car park next to the Estate buildings. From the car park you can just see the striking white stately home which is Blake Hall. Unfortunately Weddings cannot be held in the house however your wedding can be hosted in the charming 17^th century Barn or outside in the newly built Saddlery.

The Saddlery is of particular interest to me as many couples love the idea of having their wedding ceremony outside. However, in England Wedding Ceremonies can only take place inside a registered building. The Saddlery has been purpose built so it can offer the best of both worlds. Technically your ceremony is indoors however the building has been designed so your guests can be seated outdoors and while the ceremony takes place inside the Saddlery. The Saddlery has very large opening to provide your guests the perfect view.

Another plus point to Blake Hall is the recent refurbishment to The Old Coach House. This stunning little cottage is perfect for the marrying couple to stay on the night of their wedding. There is more than one bedroom so could also be used for relatives.

Where are you based?

I am based from my home studio in Essex but travel far and wide if required. I draw all over the UK and also in places like Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I have also drawn in Tokyo, Japan and love to travel with my work. Sometimes with weddings I get to visit some of the most beautiful countryside here in the UK, it is always a real pleasure to discover the world around us because of my work!

How long have you been an artist?

Since I was a small child I have always loved drawing, then at school I was very lucky to have two very good art teachers who inspired me. After school I had a year at college and then went into a job in Soho, London, as a messenger for a commercial art studio in the advertising business. I progressed through the studio and it was like an apprenticeship with artists all around me, who I would learn from and spend time trying to understand their techniques and way of working. That was way back in 1979 so it has been over 30 years!

Why do you like working at Weddings?

Weddings are a special day of celebrating and to a part of someone's day is just simply wonderful. Guests are excited and in a celebratory mood, so having a fun caricature drawn fits perfectly with a wedding. I love making people laugh and at weddings this happens a lot! So I guess I like working weddings because I can really entertain everyone and give them a really good time, as well as a caricature that they can take away and keep forever!

How long does it take you to draw someone?

Well the process begins as someone sits down for me, I am already looking at them to 'see' the caricature and then its pen to paper. The drawing takes about three minutes, not long in fact. I am fast due to my experience and the competitions I take part in over in the USA. We have a caricature organisation that runs a convention each year, along with competitions and one of those is for the World's Fastest Caricaturist. I have been lucky to place in second position a number of times, which is quite an achievement and maybe one day I might actually make the number one spot!

How do you get couples to relax when you are drawing them?

This a part of the job that I enjoy, as they sit for me I can see they are a little nervous so I ask them questions about themselves to help put them at ease. So I will ask them where they are from, what lie of work they are in and so on, anything to get them to talk about themselves so they feel relaxed and more importantly, that they are part of what is happening in the process of being drawn. Then they will always have questions they want to ask me and in fact they may beat me to the start by asking their questions of me before I can ask them mine! It happens very naturally and some of the questions I get can be fun to answer. For example, people will often ask me if I am a real artist or if this is my hobby or how long have I been doing this. I get asked these questions a lot and sometimes I answer in a humorous manner to make them laugh.

Do you have a favorite Wedding Venue?

Thats a tough question actually. I draw at so many venues, from places like hotels, converted barns and large country houses. Wedding venues today take on many shapes and sizes so that when I arrive at a new venue, I am never quite sure what to expect. I have found over the years that venues provide a great service but that it really comes down to the people working there, the staff will make the venue one that shines. Some venues know me very well as I have drawn at them many many times before, so it is always nice to be at such venues again and again as it is like meeting old friends whenever I am there. My favourite would be a venue that has enough room for me to be placed well away from the loud music of the disco, so that I can concentrate and talk to guests without having to shout!

Which month is your busiest month?

Good question. Weddings have changed so much over the past 20 years and people are getting married all year round with Christmas Eve and New Years eve becoming very popular! But I must say that from Easter through to September is my busiest time, over that five month period. Winter brings many parties for corporate clients but weddings are still taking place and you can find me drawing at a wedding during October through to March every year, it really is an all year round event!

Where are you based?

Little Totham in Essex, a beautiful (small) village, and ideally situated between 5 top wedding venues, not more than 10 minutes away from each. You can't say I'm not dedicated...

How long have you been a photographer?

Errrmmm... I've been a professional photographer all my working life, which is unbelievably 17 years this year. Where did all that time go? I started off in London, working for a busy commercial photographers. It was very cool.

Why do you like Wedding Photography?

I love the buzz. It's always different, people, colours, beautiful venues, sunny days, the happiness, the sheer joy. It's unbeatable. There is nothing more satisfying to me than coming home from a great wedding, where the people were so much fun that I wish I could have stayed for the evening, to then load up the images onto the computer and to feel a genuine excitement for the images I've just captured is pure magic. I honestly won't retire from this job until I have to. Until I can't pick up the camera any more, or no-one wants to book an old codger!

What’s your style? Traditional, Artistic etc

A mix, pretty much like most photographers. I love detail shots. the shoes place settings etc. I don't think you can really get away without having a few nice formals, but lots of fun, relaxed shots too. I guess my style is 'pete-style' (Which is brilliant, I hasten to add!)

How do you get couples to relax in front of the camera?

This depends soooo much on the couple! Some people are natural models, which is a doddle! Some people are very uptight, in which case, it's a softly, softly approach that works best, gently just chatting away all the time. Some people are clearly a bit uptight, but are also clearly up for a laugh, in which case it's jokes and having a laugh.

If I had to put my finger on one single thing, it's that I never stop communicating with my subjects. Talk, talk, talk, all the time. Jokes, anecdotes, a little bit of mickey taking, if I'm with the guys. Tell the girls how beautiful they are (I'm a terrible flirt), chat about the Jimmy Chos... Honestly, it never fails! I regularly get guests come up to me and tell me how much they've enjoyed the session, or wondering if I was friend of the bride and groom. I take that as a real compliment.

Do you have a favorite Wedding Venue?

I love the Fennes Estate, it ticks all the boxes. I'm recommended there too, so it's very familiar, which is nice.

There will always be a place in my heart for Leez Priory. I worked for a photographer who was recommended at Leez, so I would cover 3/4 weddings a week there. Fun times! If it's a sunny day, you can't beat Leez Priory!

We covered a wedding at Brocket Hall last year, which was just amazing! I would love to work there again in the summer, I think it has so much to offer.

Which month is your busiest month?

Depends on the year! Last year we had 14 weddings in April and only 5 in June!

Why did I become a Wedding Planner?

Why did you become a wedding planner?
Early in 2007 I went on a course at work to discover my strengths and weaknesses. Part of the course focussed on careers, it was then I realised I was in the wrong job! With the help of my work mentor we discovered I had a passion for project management.... but the personal kind i.e Weddings! In November 2007 I booked myself on a course at the Wedding Planner School in Bristol. So after my course I decided to enter the world of weddings. With the assistance of the Wedding Planner School they found me some work experience. This lead to planning weddings part time. At the end of 2009 I was made redundant from my full time job so I decided I would expand my career as a Wedding Planner.

Whats your favourite venue?
There are some lovely venues all over the UK but I don’t really have one particular favourite. However, I love old stately homes, I attended a wedding in 2006 at Audley End House, it was absolutely gorgeous.

How would your couples describe you?
Bubbly, passionate, organised and full of ideas.

Where do you get your inspiration?
Anywhere and everywhere... as posted in an earlier blog I could be just anywhere and see something and think WOW that's lovely!

If you could plan a celebrity wedding, whose would it be?
It has got to be Robbie Williams! I have been a fan since he was in Take That. I envy the Planner that assists with his wedding!

Which wedding planners work do you admire and why?
My favourite planner is Mark Niemierko. I really admire his work, he has planned the most fabulous weddings. He has fantastic relationships with some outstanding suppliers... am I jealous YES!

What themes are you working on for 2010?
I'm working on a Spring Wedding... greens, whites with a hint of pink... sweetpeas, freesias, springmeadow style. Rustic with a touch of vintage glam.
Also a summer wedding.... steal tea, white, red.... roses.... tea lights.... Beautiful Barn in Suffolk. All very exciting!

Planners like myself are experts that eat, sleep and dream weddings. Lots of planners also save you money by passing on service arrangements they have with suppliers which can be half the price of other suppliers! We attend meetings with vendors, visit wedding fayres, collect samples, provide inspiration boards, design room layouts... the list goes on. This frees up your time to be doing the fun stuff... such as finding the perfect outfit!

Wedding Planners are like a personal assistant that are there to support you through this exciting journey to your big day. They also assist when problems arise through family interference or suggestions and can help resolve any disagreements.

I have found that I have become more creative now I'm a wedding planner. I could be almost anywhere and I find exciting ideas. The other day I came across some beautiful tea light lanterns on a metal works stall in my local shopping centre perfect for a vintage wedding.

Cakes! When I first started wedding planning I always wondered why we have a wedding cake. It is thought that the wedding cake dates to Roman time. A loaf of barley bread would be made for the wedding day. After the ceremony the groom would eat part of the bread and break the other half over the head of his wife which was supposed to signify the end of the woman’s virginity.

In medieval times a stack of sweet buns would be placed in front of the bride and groom and if they were successful in kissing over the top without knocking down the stack it was thought that the couple would have many children.
In the 17th century a wedding cake was called a brides pie which would be made with sweetbreads, mince or mutton. The pie would contain a glass ring which was supposed to signify imminent marriage for its finder. In the 19th century the sweet fruit cakes that we are more familiar with today became very popular these were then iced in white which was more of a practical decision because ingredients were very hard to source. The whiter the cake the more refined the icing sugar and therefore the more affluent the family. The white cake was believed to signify purity and to draw attention to the bride and her innocence and imminent loss of virginity (in much the same way as a white bridal gown, hence the term whitewedding). Traditionally the first job that would be performed by the newlyweds was the cutting of the cake to signify unity and togetherness. (Taken from http://www.weddingcake.co.uk/)

Nowadays many couple are looking for something different, as they don't want to be left with a lot of expensive fruit cake. From looking around wedding fayres and the internet I have noticed cake companies are also changing from the traditional cake. I recently attended a wedding where the Bride had made her own cupcakes... fantasic idea for keep costs down. There are so many ideas to choose from so when looking for a wedding cake it's always best to have a sample... yummy!

The Bride and Groom wanted a 1940's type of wedding. So what was going on in that era... slinkys, Polaroid camera's, First Non-Stop Flight Around the World... hmmm interesting.... Then another thought Princess Elizabeth married Prince Philip in 1947... pearls, butterflies, birdcages... all wonderful ideas.

I found some fabulous web sites selling Vintage items, especially clothing. However, I wondered that it must be difficult to get a Vintage Wedding dress that wasn't tired or worn out... I then came across a beautiful Wedding Dress website, although not vintage in age these gowns are absolutely stunning.
